Senior Staff Accountant Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team and take ownership of a variety of complex accounting activities. This position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the monthly close, preparing financial reporting, and assisting with audit requirements. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and providing guidance to less-experienced accounting team members. This role will also contribute to improving accounting processes, systems, and overall financial operations. Key Responsibilities Manage and review accounting activity involving journal entries, accruals, account adjustments, and other complex transactions. Complete detailed reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts, including intercompany and multi-company activity. Coordinate accounting activities throughout the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles. Assist with preparation of financial statements, internal reporting packages, and management-level financial analysis. Review financial results and investigate significant variances, trends, and unusual activity. Serve as a key resource during internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests. Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, established internal controls, and company accounting procedures. Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and mentoring to Staff Accountants. Assist with accounting system enhancements, ERP initiatives, and projects designed to improve efficiency and accuracy. Partner with departments across the organization on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities. Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend practical improvements to strengthen controls and streamline operations. Take on additional accounting and financial projects as business needs arise. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Background working in a multi-entity or otherwise complex accounting environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Demonstrated experience with consolidated financial reporting, intercompany accounting, and account reconciliations. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities. Prior exposure to internal and external audits and internal control processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and other departments. Technology Skills Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience working with an ERP or enterprise accounting system is required.
