Position Summary The HR & Operations Consultant will provide strategic and hands-on support across human resources, organizational operations, compliance, administration, and staff infrastructure. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director to develop and maintain efficient systems, policies, processes, and documentation that allow POWER Atlanta to operate effectively and sustainably. The ideal candidate has prior nonprofit experience, understands the unique operational needs of mission-driven organizations, and is comfortable working in a growing organization where priorities can change quickly. Key Responsibilities Human Resources
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee and contractor files and ensure appropriate documentation.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Develop onboarding checklists and standardized new-hire processes.
- Assist with employee handbook development and updates.
- Coordinate performance review processes.
- Support employee relations and workplace issue resolution.
- Maintain organizational staffing records and HR documentation.
- Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers as applicable.
- Ensure appropriate employment and contractor documentation is maintained.
- Assist leadership with recruitment, job descriptions, interview processes, and hiring workflows.
- Help establish consistent expectations around attendance, performance, communication, and workplace conduct. Operations
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Create efficient administrative workflows across the organization.
- Maintain organizational calendars, deadlines, and recurring operational requirements.
- Develop systems for tracking contracts, vendors, licenses, insurance, renewals, and other organizational documents.
- Support leadership with project management and organizational planning.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Create checklists, templates, forms, and workflows to improve consistency.
- Assist with coordination between clinical, administrative, marketing, and leadership functions.
- Maintain organized digital files and organizational records. Nonprofit Administration & Compliance
- Support nonprofit governance and administrative requirements.
- Maintain organizational compliance calendars and documentation.
- Assist with preparation for audits, funder reviews, grants, and organizational reporting.
- Maintain records related to nonprofit registrations, insurance, contracts, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with board and committee administrative support as needed.
- Help ensure organizational policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
- Support documentation required for grants, programs, and funding partners. Organizational Development
- Help develop systems that can scale as POWER Atlanta grows.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures.
- Assist leadership with annual planning and organizational goals.
- Develop dashboards, trackers, and reporting systems as needed.
- Support creation of a positive, professional, inclusive, and mission-aligned workplace culture.
- Identify opportunities to reduce administrative burden and improve staff productivity.
