Competitive compensation based on experience plus a comprehensive benefits package. Position Overview Our client is looking for an experienced Controller who thrives in a hands-on leadership role. This individual will oversee the accounting function, provide strategic financial guidance, improve internal processes, and ensure the business has accurate, timely financial information to make informed decisions. This is not a position for someone who prefers to delegate from a distance—we're looking for a leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and working alongside the team. Key Responsibilities Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting with insights into business performance, trends, and potential risks. Manage daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow forecasting. Develop and manage the annual budgeting process. Lead monthly Revenue Recognition and Work in Process (WIP) meetings with operations leadership. Improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax filings and licensing requirements. Serve as the primary financial contact for banks, auditors, bonding companies, and tax advisors. Partner with operations to improve job costing, profitability analysis, and financial decision-making. Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop the accounting and finance team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4+ years of construction or project-based accounting experience. CPA designation is preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of job costing, Work in Process (WIP), revenue recognition, and month-end close. Proven leadership experience managing teams of approximately 5–10 employees. Hands-on leadership style with the ability to both manage and execute. Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting systems experience. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information in a clear, practical manner. Highly organized, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience.
