Our House, Our Story The mission of our house inc. is to provide healthy and stimulating environments for people with developmental and other disabilities, through the provision of community residences, employment opportunities, social programs and other supports designed to help them achieve their full potential for living meaningful and productive lives; and to provide affordable housing for low income individuals, consistent with irs guidelines for low income housing programs, as a means of relieving the poor and distressed. Our House Foundation's Mission: To provide private financial support to Our House, Inc. (OHI), a not-for-profit public agency that provides housing, employment, and other social services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The foundation has several opportunities for support and volunteering: "The Grape Debate" is held in March and is an interactive wine-tasting event is sponsored by Gary's Wine and Marketplace. Enjoy delectable food samplings paired with delicious wines and vodkas. The Annual 5-Mile Run/2-Mile Walk Event is the first Sunday in May , at 1:00 p.m. Since 2000, this event has grown in popularity. The 5-Mile event is held in the beautiful streets of Summit's north side, beginning and ending at the Village Green in the heart of Summit. Over 600 people participate in an event sanctioned by the United States of America Track and Field Association. At 2:00 p.m., cheer on our participants in our "Everyone's a Winner Race. All this will be fun enhanced by our Master of Ceremonies, John Elliott of CBS. Opportunities to volunteer are many, as 100+ people make the event seamless. In addition, school-age volunteers can earn valuable Community Service credits. In September we celebrate our Achievement Awards Ceremony where all our residents and supported employees are recognized for the achievements over the last year.
